Asylum Sessions Presents, The Supernovas, Evil Twin, The Debuts and Moths!

Friday 1 June 2012 - 20:00

After a year away from Swindon with sold out nights all over Europe Asylum Sessions returns to where it started and bring a few old friends along.....

The Supernovas (www.thesupernovas.com
SICK of half assed, lame brain, say nothing, do nothing, know nothing, soft soap slackers seeking quick fix sell out solutions?
HUNGRY for rock n roll that gets off its knees , makes the heart swell , with a sonic charge that engages the brain and the solar plexus?
READY for songs that might actually capture what its like to live or thrive, lose and win, skive and drive through “the land of thehope and glory and the land of rock n roll”?
Well then… THIS is your sonic wake up call.
The Supernovas are the very shape, sound and vision of cutting edge, skank fuelled, culture crossing, 2nd decade, 21st century North London London Rock n Roll Band.
Playing together since they were 16 the Holloway Road based 4 piece are Joei Silvester London Irish, Derry City fanatic, frontman Singer and rhythm Guitarist, Columbian lead guitarist Rizo, bass supremo Panashe Nyandoro and rocket fuelled drummer Moses Elliott.
2010 was a year that was just as hectic as the last, with the boys releasing their second single Slaughter In The Gaza and then heading over to SXSW where they supported Billy Bragg for 2 nights and were spotted by the legendary Don Letts... And all of that before April!
That summer saw them launch a full-scale attack on the festival scene, with their most memorable shows being Latitude, Glastonbury and Vintage at Goodwood in particular. They had barely managed to shift the smell of suncream and cold baked beans before they were back in studio hammering out their third single City Of Smoke which was also remixed by their (by this point) mentor, Don Letts, who also premiered the new single on his BBC 6Music show. This was instantly followed by the Strummerville: Westway Round The UK Tour which took in nearly every corner of the country.
After ending the year with their debut UK television appearance on Channel 4's Strummerville Sessions, the boys started 2011 with a week-long hibernation period in the Welsh hills, working on new material, the fruits of which they are showcasing at venues around the country NOW. This year has already seen them featured in clash Magazine, supporting Guillemotts and working with Clarks Originals on a number of projects.
The wise guys, smart girls, and cool cats are already in on the secret, now its your turn.

Evil Twin
Evil Twin are my surprise act of the night, when looking for bands to support they sent me a few tracks and straight away I put them as the Headline band (Supernovas will be main support) be prepared to hear something very special!

The Debuts http://www.myspace.com/thedebuts
The Debuts are very old of the Asylum Sessions and the last 12 months have been an amazing time for them with nights which have included being on the same bill as hero's of mine The Maccabees!

Moths http://www.facebook.com/pages/Moths/155912904521100
Moths are a new up and coming band in Swindon and are still evolving but they are something very special.

Doors are @ 8pm and tickets are £3adv from WeGotTickets
or are £4 on the night.

RIFFS ART & MUSIC ACADEMY (RAMA) ART LESSONS - All welcome

RIFFS ART & MUSIC ACADEMY (RAMA) ART LESSONS - All welcome

Wednesday 20 June 2012 - 18:30

Hi All !! Just to let you know that we're going to run our art class weekly. By this I mean that we will still have our structure of 10 weeks ending with an exhibition (5 weeks learning and 5 weeks project), although you will be able to attend and pay on a weekly basis. This is due to summer holidays etc. This enables people to 'come and try' some sessions to see how they get on :-) Cost of 2 hour session is £12.50 and materials are provided (within reason!).

We want to teach the world to paint, with colour harmony...... la la la la la la :)
